Holistic Voice Therapy

What is Holistic Voice Therapy?

Long before our ancestors developed verbal language skills, they sang to communicate emotions and build social connections.

Our voices with, with their own unique tone and timbre, reflect the state of our emotional lives and can open windows into the condition of our health and wellbeing.

Holistic Voice Therapy works with the voice to help improve health and wellbeing (our emotional, mental, physical). Enabling the body to be in positive harmony and balanced state.

It also addresses personal expression, gently lifting the often heavy barriers that prevent us from giving full voice to our emotions. The practice aims to create a dynamic and transformative ‘wholing’ space in which suppressed feelings can be safely expressed and set free. The voice works here as the body and mind’s self-healing device.

Our voice is the essence of us – it is the instrument through which we convey emotion, express ourselves and connect with others. A Holistic Voice Therapist trained by the British Academy of Sound Therapy helps facilitate the exploration of the self through calming-based voice activities and movement.

Some of the activities could be used for general enjoyment and others to enable communication, creativity, and expression. Holistic Voice Therapies can be used to prevent isolation, enhance community, improve mental health, elevate mood state, share something beautiful, build relationships, increase relaxation, exercise the mind – the list is endless!

As well as using the voice we will also use a reflective framework to be able to contain and explore our experience in a safe, effective and positive way.

Voice Bath Meditation

is where the client receives a treatment of gentle tones and overtones (harmonic singing) in a technique designed to place them into a deep state of relaxation similar to deep meditation. Our research has shown that many physical, emotional and mental health benefits can be achieved using this approach.

Voice Activation & Emboidment Techniques

This is where the practitioner supports the client to use voice, breath, movement and visualisation exercises that are relevant to the client’s symptoms/ situation (the practitioner has 22 different techniques to choose from). As well as the research we have conducted, singing has also been shown to increase salivary Immunoglobulin A – one of the body’s primary defence mechanisms

Holistic Voice Therapy incorporates two very different therapeutic methods :

1. voice bath meditation
2. Vocal Activation & Embodiment
